It is sad to see this. 105 children have died from influenza so far this year. 90% of those children did not receive immunization against flu. Hard to argue with these numbers and that the vaccine, even though it may not prevent mild cases of influenza, works well to decrease the severity of disease.

It is true that flu immunization is not as effective as other immunizations that we give in the pediatric office. However, it is extremely safe it is hard to argue with these kinds of numbers.
Bottom line – I will continue to immunize my children and myself against influenza each and every year.
