It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged. I’ve spent no less time seeing patients this summer, but have been quite busy training for the race that I will be in this weekend: The Louisville IRONMAN competition. This is a triathlon where athletes swim 2.4 miles in the Ohio, ride 112 miles on a bike before running a 26.2 mile marathon. Those of you who know me well, know that I am a runner. Learning to swim and bike these longer distances has been quite hard for me. I appreciate how much my family has had to do without me while I’ve been out on 5 hour bike rides on the weekends. I also appreciate the fact that I am healthy enough to do any of this at all. This competition is unknown territory for me, so my goal is just to finish in one piece.
This is all just a game for me and it has been fun. But after Sunday I’ll be ready for some rest and back to business as usual.
