A Few Words About Our Flu Vaccine Supply
Robert Tagher, MD
December, 2009

What’s up with our vaccine supply this year?

Regular seasonal flu vaccine manufacturers put a great deal of their effort to the production of the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine, slowing their production of regular seasonal flu vaccine.

You have plenty of time for you and your children to get vaccinated for regular seasonal flu.

  • Currently the flu we are seeing in the office and in the schools is H1N1.

  • The seasonal flu vaccine will not protect you against H1N1.

  • There is not any seasonal flu going around now and we usually do not see it until the first of the year.

  • You will be notified via email when the regular seasonal vaccine is available.  Also all vaccine information will be kept at www.PediatricsofFlorence.com/flu.aspx

H1N1 Vaccine Update (No Need to Panic).

  • Most of the H1N1 cases we have seen have been very mild and self-limited.

  • H1N1 vaccine be shipped to us very soon.

  • H1N1 Vaccines will show up in partial shipments, when we exhaust one shipment, another is one the way.

  • You will be notified via email when the H1N1 vaccine is available.  Also all vaccine information will be kept at www.PediatricsofFlorence.com/flu.aspx

Bottom Line

If there are changes to the kind of flu that is circulating in the community or if there is information to pass on about who should get which kind of vaccine, you will be notified.
