As many families may already know our office collaborates with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to improve the care in the evaluation and treatment of children with ADHD. Because we have completed all necessary steps of the training in this initiative, this collaboration is planning a change that will effect the rest of this year. In order for our office to maintain an improved patient care model, an internet “portal” has been created. This is an area of the web where doctors, patients and teachers can securely communicate regarding the child’s progress in the evaluation and treatment course. The portal will help our office to monitor side effects of ADHD medication and track parent and teacher symptom questionnaires (i.e., the Vanderbilts). This will cut down on paperwork and the time it takes to track down the questionnaires prior to an appointment.
We started adding patients to the portal in February. There are many advantages to tracking patients in this fashion; however, the transition may provide some challenges. This is still a learning process for our office, so please bear with us as we implement this change.
